Awe Inspiring Artists | Day o2 of 11: Katsuyo Aoki

For the second piece of this blog series I’ve chosen yet another sculptor, Katsuyo Aoki (青木克世). Her super intricate porcelain sculptures have garnered much attention as of late, having been shown in multiple exhibitions and being featured in Western magazines. Her transformation and interpretation of the human skull are unique and absolutely stunning as are her studies of other subjects such as chandeliers and frames. The stylized grandeur of each piece seems fit for a king. Her porcelain works appear as immaculate structured milk full of curves and organic forms. Her magenta and blue paintings compliment beautifully with her white frames, detail upon detail and yet it all works. ![]()
